Camerata Concert

Bend Camerata will perform 2 concerts at Nativity this weekend, Saturday at 7:30 and Sunday at 3:00. The program highlights the music of Norwegian-born composer Ola Gjeilo (pronounced Yay-lo), who over the last decade has made an indelibleĀ mark on the choral music world. Known for his lush harmonies, stirring melodies, and inventive motifs, Gjeilo composes for choir, solo piano, orchestra, wind ensemble, and other combinations thereof. We are thrilled to collaborate with the Dove String Quartet in this performance, along with pianist Peggy DeArmond.
Other selections on this unique program include three settings of “Ave Verum Corpus,” featuring Byrd, Mozart, and Gregorian Chant; Edward Elgar’s “Lux Aeterna,” a choral arrangement of the stunning (and difficult, turns out!) “Nimrod” from the “Enigma Variations”; Gibbons, Palestrina, and more. We’re also particularly excited to perform a new piece by our very own composer-in-residence, Jim Knox.
Tickets are $15 and available at the door, or online atĀ
Students are free with ID.
