Vacation Bible School at Nativity

June 2nd, 2009

What: Vacation Bible School

Who: All Children K – 5 (going into)

When: August 17 – 21

Where: Nativity Lutheran Church

Cost: Free (a light lunch will also be provided each day at no cost)

Theme: The Great Adventure

Bible Story: Moses

Activities will include water fun, face painting, games, singing,

Bible stories, bicycling and much, much more!

Plan to come at 9:00 a.m. each day and end at 1:00 p.m.

Nativity’s Summer Potluck Picnic

June 2nd, 2009


Nativity’s summer potluck picnic will be on Sunday, July 5th.  We will be having only one service that day at 10:00 am, and the potluck picnic will follow the service.  Please sign up with a potluck item (a sign up sheet will be posted in the fellowship hall).  The fellowship committee will be providing the meat.  We will also be celebrating Pastor Dave Nagler’s 5th anniversary with Nativity.

Nativity Cook Book Sale

June 2nd, 2009

As a fundraiser, the food pantry would like to publish a Cook Book in time for Christmas sales.  The proceeds will be used as a “slush” fund for the food pantry to purchase a few items from time to time If you would like to participate, please email your recipes to Kit Iacopucci at pucci@bendbroadband.com:

  • Contribute three of your favorite recipes.
  • Put your name and phone number on your recipes.
  • The recipes will be edited for simplicity of terms and directions.

If you do not have email, please put your recipes in the box marked “recipes”  in the narthex.

Nativity Community Garden

April 16th, 2009

The Community Garden was dedicated last Sunday, June 14th. Nativity has set aside 25% of the garden for the NeighborImpact Food Bank and two representatives from the food bank were present at the dedication. Currently there are over 20 gardeners on the site which is located just east of Nativity on property owned by Jan and Jody Ward. Take the short walk and check it out.

Nativity Summer Camp-Out

Friday, August 28 - Sunday, August 30

at Newberry Group Camp on Paulina Lake (change from previous years) within the Newberry National Volcanic Monument

Come for a relaxing weekend of friendship, fellowship and plenty of outdoor recreation. Arrive Friday, after 1:00 pm and stay through Sunday noon. The campground is on Paulina Lake with some sites on the beach. Water is available, but no electric or water hookups.

Activities include hiking, swimming, fishing, boating (rentals available) mountain biking and activities for the youth and children.

Potluck on Saturday, August 29, begins at 5:00 pm. Worship service with communion will be after the potluck on Saturday evening. If you would like to attend the potluck and worship service but are not camping, transportation from Bend can be arranged.

Bring your tent or RV for a fun and relaxing weekend of fellowship with others from the Nativity family.  Last year we had over 85 people attend.

Cost is FREE (by gift of members of the congregation). No fee to get into the Newberry National Volcanic Monument.
