9 am service

Good Friday 2022

The word “Tenebrae” is the Latin word for darkness. This service which the Church employs on Good Friday traces the movement of that darkness through the events of the betrayal and death in our Lord’s Passion. The candles on the altar will be extinguished one by one. We are left in darkness and silence, covered by the shadow of the cross. Now is a time to reflect on the meaning of the cross, to meditate, to pray, and reverence.

We depart in that darkness and silence watching for Easter.

Lighting of the Candles

Prayer of the Day

Almighty God, look with loving mercy on your family, for whom our Lord Jesus Christ was willing to be betrayed, to be given over to the hands of sinners, and to suffer death on the cross; who now lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen.
